What should I do if my tooth is broken due to any reason?

If you encounter any kind of dental emergency such as an injury to your tooth or knocked out tooth, then there are some very simple steps you can follow to save your tooth such as:

  • Pick up the tooth by the crown (the chewing surface) NOT the root.
  • If dirty, gently rinse the tooth with water (Do not use soap)
  • Reposition the tooth in the socket immediately, if possible.
  • Keep the tooth moist at all times (milk, or emergency tooth preservation kit)
  • See a dentist within 30 minutes of the injury.
